More nail art from Nails by Nani! I got another chance to sit down with my sister Nancy to get another set of nails done. For this one, I wanted to use the foil strips because I love how clean they look, and I can’t resist the siren song of metallic shine!
A lot of times you see the foil strips being used horizontally to emphasize the curve of the nail, so I like that this one breaks the mold to go vertical. First she painted my nails metallic purple and we let that dry. Then she masked off one third of the nail literally with masking tape. In my last nail art post, I describe the technique used to stamp the intricate patterns. She used gold polish to stamp the design and then slowly removed the masking tape.
The foil comes in a tiny roll, almost like Scotch tape, sans dispenser. She uses clippers to cut off a strip longer than needed, and carefully lays it down on the edge where pattern and solid purple meet. Then she can trim the excess.
The real magic happens with two different coats of topcoat, not only does it protect the nail, but it lets that bling shine!
After we were finished I realized this would have been the perfect opportunity to use her Egyptian motif plates. The color scheme coupled with the columnar gold posts are perfect for that theme. Ah well, I *love* these nails!
